EMBL Heidelberg - Seminar Room 1-202
This course is free and open to all, including outstations, and provides an introduction to network biology, graph theory, and basics of visualisation through practical hands-on exercises.
Participants will learn how to:
- use public resources (interaction databases, pathway tools, literature mining) to explore their data
- reconstruct biological networks and import and integrate their experimental data
- apply basic concepts in visualisation to annotate, analyse, and interpret biological information
- exploit network structure and graph characteristics
- perform enrichment and depletion tests using ontologies and pathways
After the course you will be able to independently work with Cytoscape on your own experimental data to perform the basic network and data exploration related tasks.
You will understand how to expand and enrich your experimental data with existing knowledge and how to visualise it in a precise and concise manner.
