Description

The book club is planned as a collaborative effort to get familiar with the content of the book "Modern Statistics for Modern Biology" by Susan Holmes and Wolfgang Huber. We will read the book chapter by chapter and meet for online book club sessions to discuss the content. The material will require some basic knowledge of R programming or a willingness to learn it.

The current plan is to read the book chapter by chapter and meet for online book club sessions to discuss the content. Each book club session will run 90 minutes and will cover one chapter. The general format of the book club will be the following:

• a brief introduction to the content of the covered chapter,
• break out sessions into sub-clubs of around 10 people,
• a wrap-up where we will hear from one representative of each sub-club and all together try to answer questions that could not be answered in the sub-clubs

In the first session we will discuss Chapter 1 – Generative Models for Discrete Data. It is crucial that you read the chapter before the session!
