Data Management Workshop at EMBL Rome

We are pleased to announce a Data Management Workshop at EMBL Rome, bringing together experts from across EMBL’s Data Science Center and IT Services to help you navigate the landscape of research data management.

About the Workshop

This two-day event provides practical guidance on managing research data effectively, from experimental design to long-term storage and sharing. Whether you’re starting a new project or improving your current practices, this workshop will equip you with essential knowledge and tools.

Day 1: Expert Talks and Presentations (20 April)

A full day of presentations covering essential data management topics:

  • Data Management Principles – Understanding FAIR data principles and best practices
  • Experimental Design – Planning for data management from the start
  • Image and Sequencing Data Formats – Overview of common data formats and standards
  • Data Management Application – EMBL’s internal file system management tools and workflows
  • Research Data Management with LabID – Introduction to EMBL’s laboratory information management platform
  • Applied Data Management in LabID – Practical examples using sequencing and imaging data

Each session includes time for Q&A and discussion. Coffee, lunch, and refreshments will be provided.

Day 2: One-on-One Consulting Sessions (21 April)

Personalized consulting sessions where you can discuss your specific data management challenges with our expert speakers. Sessions are available in 30-minute or 1-hour slots and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis during registration.
