Course Description
ilastik is a simple, user-friendly tool for interactive image classification, segmentation and analysis. It is built as a modular software framework, which currently has workflows for automated (supervised) pixel- and object-level classification, automated and semi-automated object tracking, automated and semi-automated segmentation of boundary based objects, and object counting without detection. Most analysis operations are performed lazily, which enables targeted interactive processing of data subvolumes, followed by complete volume analysis in offline batch mode.
Using ilastik requires no previous experience in image processing. This course is aimed at anyone who works with biological images and wants to learn to use ilastik to easily process and analyse their data.
Course Content
Over the course of two afternoons, we will focus on image/volume segmentation with multiple workflows, building up towards state-of-the-art segmentation approaches. During the first day you will get an overview of ilastik and make your first steps in selected workflows. On the second day you will also have a chance to work on your own data, supported by the ilastik development team. If you are already a proficient ilastik user, feel free to join only on the second day.
Registration
Registration is required, via the booking form below. You can choose to attend the course in person (ticket type in person attendance), or virtually (choose remote attendance in the booking form to receive connection info.)
Prerequisites
The course assumes no prior experience with ilastik. It will be hands-on: you should bring your own laptop with ilastik installed (see link below for installation instructions). For the session on the second day you can bring your own data to work on! If you have no data you need to process immediately, we’ll find some examples for you – or you can help others with their data!
