Tired of analysing your data without really understanding what is going on?
Or maybe you have found yourself asking the Data Science Internal Support about linear models more often than you would like, and you are ready to get a solid grip on it yourself?
Linear models are widely used in biology to describe trends in data, test scientific hypotheses, and understand relationships between variables. They also power many of the statistical tools and software packages commonly used in the life sciences.
In this training session, you will work through a self-paced online tutorial at your own speed, but you won’t be doing it alone. Throughout the session, we will have a series of short checkpoints where we regroup to clarify concepts, answer questions, and dig deeper into key ideas together.
What will I learn?
- How simple and multiple linear regression models work
- How to use dummy variables for categorical predictors
- The matrix representation of linear models
- How to interpret regression coefficients
- How regression connects to t-tests and ANOVA
- How to implement all of this in R
Is this course for me?
The course is open for all EMBL researchers and staff. No pre-knowledge is required.
Trainers
- Viola Renne
