Schedule

The course will take place on two mornings:

  • Monday, 17 June 2024, 09:00 – 13:00 CET
  • Tuesday, 18 June 2024, 09:00 – 13:00 CET

Each day consists of lectures and practical demonstrations in R, as well as tutored exercises.

Content

This course teaches basic statistical concepts that will help you to better understand your data, and which are also the foundation for many advanced topics.

Day 1

  • A primer on statistical distributions
  • Concepts in hypothesis testing
  • Multiple testing
  • Practical using R

Day 2

  • Common hypothesis tests
  • Linear models
  • Introduction to unsupervised learning: PCA and clustering
  • Practrical using R

Prerequisites

Pre-installed R and R-Studio will help you follow along during the pracicals.
We do our best to keep the practicals simple and do not require pre-knowledge in R. If you’re entirely new to coding, you may familiarize yourself with the basics in R in this self-learning tutorial.

Location

The course will take place in B14 in Rome.
