This session will provide an introduction for those interested in learning more about the concepts behind high-performance computing, before the workshop covering the new EMBL compute infrastructure in the afternoon.
We’ll take a look into history of computing, beginning with oldest known calculating devices, to understand how computing developed to a state we have now. We’ll explain how to use current machinery in the most effective way and will also briefly look into the future.
These two hours are aimed at those who are curious about computers and computing in general and those who develop their own algorithms and software.
